Types of Exchanges
Long term (youth ages 16-19): usally one year during which the student lives with 3 or 4 host families and is required to attend to school in host country.

Short term (youth ages 15-18): often takes place when school is not in session (July and August) and is not included in an academic program. Homestay with one family or international camps bringing together students from many countries.

New generations (youth ages 18-25): short term exchange last three to six weeks.

How to request a Rotary Exchange (Youth Exchange Program) ?

Dear student, get in touch with a Rotary Club near the town you are living. If you couldn't find one, send a mail to bhenry@sepbelgium.org with your firstname, lastname, phone number, postal code and town. She will help you by contacting a club exchange officer
.

How to fill in your file ?

The file is called "Application for a Rotary Youth Exchange".
After acceptance of your candidacy by the club, you will receive an "username" and "password" to login our website www.ryedb.net. There you will fill in your personal information and print out the file (20 pages). Some pages will print out with your personal information, other must manually filled in by the doctor, the dentist, the school, ...
The Rotary Sponsor Club request four copies of your file with original signatures for each (SIGNATURES IN BLUE INK, this is mandatory).
About your destination: if the 3 fields "Destination country" remain blank, we suppose that you accept to go anywhere.

Destination countries...

The earlier we receive your application, the more chances you have to be sent to the country you requested. Do not forget however that there are some age restrictions, mainly for english speaking countries (less than 18 years on the date of departure). We expect you to make a choice of three countries in the order of preferences. Caution : once filled-in you will not be able to change this part of the application.
Consider the whole list and make an intelligent choice : do not forget that the language is only one aspect of the exchange (less important than you may think), therefore do not be obsessed about your first idea and listen to our suggestions.
In any case we will need your cooperation since we expect a large number of candidates.

Destination countries (less than 18 years on the date of departure): Canada, USA, Australia, South Africa, Japan
Other destination countries: Austria, Germany, Sweden, Finland, some of East (Estonia, Poland, Russia), India, Thailand, Taiwan, Mexico, Ecuador, Bolivia, Peru, Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay.
In project (season 2009-2010): Bali.

Travel and visas
The trips are organized by the travel office "Voyages Mosans", without obligation.

Each student needs a visa one year valid (exepted for some Europeans countries). It's an academic visa, not a touristics one, and will be gotten on production of the Guarantee Form filled in by the foreign district (page 16 of the application form).
It is useless to proceed to the travel reservation and demand of visa before receiving our instructions.
